  Goals of the Institute for Nursing Centers
   
   
1.

Create a strong diverse network to bring together collaborative and diverse partners across the country to facilitate the development and promotion of NMHCs that are responsive to the unique needs of communities and to increase access to healthcare, with an emphasis on client groups that have been historically underserved.

Objective 1: Create a network to support the planning, implementation, and sustainability of Nurse Managed Health Centers.
Objective 2: Mentor potential partners among academic and community settings to prepare a more diverse provider group.
Objective 3: Promote healthy business and care management practices necessary for the financial sustainability of NMHCs and provision of quality care.
Objective 4: Identify and pursue funding options for expansion and sustainability of INC.

Inform policy to make NMHCs a viable healthcare option within communities.

Objective 1: Collaborate with national and state stakeholders including policy makers to extend primary care services to underserved communities.
Objective 2: Collaborate with stakeholders to obtain national and state provider participation with public and private insurers.
Objective 3: Promote NMHCs as a viable practice option for nurses and a viable healthcare option for diverse communities.
Objective 4: Identify and pursue funding options for expansion and sustainability of the policy efforts of the INC.
 

 

3.

Develop, test, and market components of a NMHC National Data Center for the collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of national data to support NMHC best practices and practice options for current and future nurses.

Objective 1: Design, develop, test, and implement systems to collect comprehensive data on NMHCs' clinical practice, patient and community demographics, diversity, and business management.
Objective 2: Design, develop, and implement mechanisms to link NMHC data with community, primary care, and health data sources (e.g., Federal Bureau of Primary Care) link to Medical Group Management Associates (MGMA), local, regional, and national databases.
Objective 3: Utilize the capabilities of the NMHC National Data Warehouse to evaluate success in meeting the goals of this project.
Objective 4: Identify and pursue funding options for expansion and sustainability of the NMHC National Data Warehouse.
